Commercial Computers

Out here on Gopalpura Tonk Road, the traffic never really stops. Kirti Nagar is a bit tucked away, and our spot at B 199 is where we keep all the computer gear. I usually open up early before the sun gets too hot. The shop is filled with towers, monitors, and those big boxes that keyboards come in. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are inside at once. Most of the time, it’s just me and the sound of the hard drives spinning up. I handle a lot of different things, from setting up a new PC for a student to fixing an office printer that’s jammed for the third time that week. There’s a lot of dust that comes in from the main road, so I’m always wiping things down. I don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If the phone rings, I just pick it up while I'm working. People from the nearby colonies know us by now. They bring in their old machines hoping we can make them fast again. I try my best with what’s available. It’s a practical way to spend the day. Nothing here is for show. It’s just a workplace where we get things running again. The tea stall nearby is where I go when I need a short break from the screen. It keeps the day going without too much fuss.
