Chitkariya Mobile

We are over in Jawahar Nagar running Chitkariya Mobile. It’s a busy part of town and there is always something happening outside the door. I have been in the mobile business for a few years now. The shop is nothing special to look at from the outside, but we have what people need. People come in from all over Jawahar Nagar to get their phones fixed or to buy a second-hand handset. I spend a lot of my time cleaning screens and swapping out old batteries. It is repetitive work, but I like the focus it requires. My hands are usually a bit stained from the tools and glue we use for the screens. The shop stays quite cool in the summer which is a relief. I have a small stool behind the counter where I sit and wait for customers. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know our way around a motherboard. Sometimes a customer brings in a phone that is completely smashed, and we have to tell them it’s a lost cause. Honesty is just easier that way. We don't use any fancy sales talk here. If something works, it works. We have seen a lot of changes in the mobile industry since we started, but the basic needs of the people here stay the same. It’s just about staying useful to the neighbors.
