Our building is over at D-27 on Todermal Marg. If you know the Bani Park area in Jaipur, you probably know how the streets are tucked away and lined with trees. It’s a bit of an older part of town, so the school has that lived-in feel to it. The walls have been painted a few times, and there are always scuffs from where the kids run their hands along them. Every morning, the street gets crowded with rickshaws and parents trying to park their scooters for a quick drop-off. We have classrooms spread across the floors, and the stairs are quite narrow, so we have to tell the children to slow down constantly. Jaipur gets incredibly hot in May, so we try to keep the rooms as cool as we can with the old coolers and fans. The staff room is usually a mess of notebooks and half-finished cups of tea. We don't have a giant playground, but there is enough space for everyone to stand for assembly. You can hear the neighborhood sounds, like the temple nearby or someone selling vegetables on the road, while classes are going on. It is just a regular school where people work hard and kids learn their lessons. We spend our Saturdays catching up on paperwork and cleaning out the cupboards. It’s a busy spot, but it feels like home to most of us who have been here for years. It is what it is, just a normal place for learning.
