B.M. Brick Machines

Out here in Village Pali, things move a bit slower than in the middle of Jaipur city. We spend our days at B.M. Brick Machines just getting on with the work. The workshop is out past Bhanpur Kalan, in the Jamwaramgarh area. It’s a lot of dusty roads and hot sun most of the year. We started making these brick machines because that’s what people around here needed for their building projects. There isn't much shade in the yard when the sun is high, but the machines still need to get built. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time finding us since we’re tucked away in the village. Most of the guys working here are locals from the nearby fields. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just the sound of metal hitting metal and the smell of grease. People come by to check on their orders and we usually sit on some plastic chairs and talk it through. Rajasthan summers are really no joke, but the work doesn't stop. We mostly handle the heavy stuff, like welding and fitting parts together so they don't fall apart. If you're coming from Jaipur, it takes a while to get out here, but we've been in this spot for years now. It’s just a regular workshop making machines for the local trade. Nothing too complicated about it, just daily labor and keeping the shop running.
