You’ll find us at Ghat Gate, specifically Takiya Adamshah, number 1827-A. The name is Battery Coold Guide, and as you can guess, we deal with batteries. Mostly for bikes and cars, but we have some inverter ones too. The shop is on a narrow street, so it’s always a bit of a squeeze when a vehicle stops in front. There are old battery casings stacked up in the corner waiting to be recycled. It smells a bit like lead and acid in here, but you get used to it after a while. We spend a lot of time testing batteries with those handheld meters to see if they can still hold a charge. Often, someone comes in with a dead battery on a cold morning, hoping we can jumpstart it for them. We have a few heavy chargers humming along on the shelves. It’s heavy work, lifting those big units all day, so our backs usually ache by the evening. We’ve been at this location for a long time. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy to bother with it. We just focus on the work at hand. Most of our customers are locals or taxi drivers who know we won’t overcharge them. We keep some basic tools around for cleaning the terminals and things like that. It’s a gritty, honest job and it keeps the lights on. We close up when it gets dark and the street gets quiet. That's the end of it.
