Avtar Arts

Our shop, Avtar Arts, is tucked away in Chandpole Bazar on the second cross of Khazane Walon Ka Rasta. If you know the area, you know how packed it gets with people and rickshaws every single day. The shop itself is small and crammed with all sorts of things we’ve made or collected. There is barely enough room to walk between the shelves sometimes. We’ve been at 2330 for years now, and we’ve seen the market change a lot. Every morning, we roll up the shutters and start dusting off the pieces. It’s a lot of work keeping everything clean in such a busy part of town. We get a mix of locals and tourists wandering in, asking about the different crafts. I usually sit near the front where there is a bit more light coming in from the street. It’s noisy outside with all the shouting and the horns, but inside it feels a bit different. We aren't doing any big fancy marketing; people usually just find us by walking past or hearing about us from a neighbor. Sometimes we stay late to finish up a specific piece or organize the back storage area which is always a mess. It’s just a regular local business trying to keep the traditional stuff going. The walls are covered in frames and carvings. It is a bit of a squeeze but it works for us.
