If you know the 200 Feet Bye Pass Road, you know how much dust comes off the trucks. Our shop is on Benar Road and we spend a lot of time cleaning the glass counters because of all that road grime. It’s a simple setup. We have the mobile phones on one side and the repair tools on the other. People stopping by are often in a hurry because they are traveling along the bypass. We sell SIM cards and do the basic repairs that people need quickly. The stools in the shop are old but they work for someone waiting for a battery change. It’s not like those big showrooms in the city center. It’s just me and a helper sometimes. We listen to the radio or have the news on while we work. The lights inside are bright so we can see the circuits properly. Sometimes a customer comes in just to ask for directions because of where we are located. We don’t have any big signs or anything, just the name above the door. It’s a practical way to spend the day, fixing what’s broken and talking to the locals. The evening is usually the busiest time when everyone is heading back home from work. We make sure to lock everything up tight before we leave because the road gets very dark at night. Every morning we start by sweeping the front step to clear the road sand.
