We are the Sri Venkateswara Godur Turmeric Farmersproducer Company Limited. That’s a long name, but it basically tells you exactly who we are. We are based in V Godur, which is in the Jagitial area of Karimnagar. Our office is right there in the 14th Ward at H No 7-46/1. We are a group of farmers who grow turmeric. If you’ve ever seen the fields around here when the turmeric is ready, it’s a sight to see. We started this company because we wanted to have a bit more control over how our turmeric is sold. Usually, the middleman takes a lot, so we decided to pool our resources. It’s been a learning curve for sure. None of us were experts at running a company when we started. We just knew how to farm. The office is pretty basic. We have a few chairs and a table where we meet to talk about prices and the quality of the soil. There’s usually dust from the road coming in through the windows, but we don't mind. It’s honest work. We spend our days out in the dirt and our evenings checking the books. We don't have any fancy marketing. We just have our turmeric and our community. It’s a tough life being a farmer, but doing it together like this makes it a bit more manageable for everyone in the village.
