Tirtol Mahaveer Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in Village Tanaratirtol. We operate out of Pradipta Ku Sahoo’s place. It’s a very local thing. Most of us here have been farming for generations. We realized that if we teamed up, we could probably get better deals on things we need. It’s a simple idea, but it takes a lot of effort to keep it going. We don't have any marketing people or fancy logos. We just have our fields and our hands. In Tanaratirtol, everyone knows everyone else, so we have to be honest and work hard. We spend our mornings in the mud and our afternoons trying to figure out the transport for the grain. It’s a lot of back-and-forth. Sometimes the trucks don’t show up, or the prices drop suddenly. We just deal with it as it comes. We aren't trying to change the world; we just want to make sure our kids have a future in farming. Pradipta handles a lot of the coordination from his house. It’s always busy there, especially during the sowing season. We have a lot of tea and talk about the water levels in the local area. It’s a quiet life, but it’s busy. We are just a group of neighbors trying to make a go of it as a company. It’s not polished, but it’s real work. The village path to Pradipta’s place is narrow, so we have to be careful with the larger carts. It’s those little things that take up our time. We don't have a website because we are too busy out in the dirt. Most of our deals are done with a handshake.
