Niali Baranga Farmer Producer Company Limited is located at Khalarda in the Cuttack district. We operate out of Surendra Barik’s place. The group brings together farmers from the Niali and Baranga areas so we can have a better say in how our produce is handled. It’s a local setup and we like it that way. Most of us have been farming these lands for a long time, so we know the local soil and the weather patterns pretty well. Surendra’s house is where the paperwork happens and where we have our meetings. It is usually quite busy around there, especially during the sowing and harvesting months. We don't have any fancy signs or a big reception area. It’s just a spot for farmers to come and talk about their work. We deal with everything from getting the right fertilizers to finding buyers for the rice or vegetables. Cuttack is a big district, but Khalarda is our home base. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to do right by the members of our group. Sometimes we have to deal with bad roads or low prices, but having the company helps us face those problems together. It is a very simple, honest way of working.
