Vedha Hair Salons

Vedha Hair Salons is tucked away behind the Dhani Marriage Garden here in Jabalpur. Being on Damoh Naka Road means there is always something going on nearby, especially when there’s a big wedding at the garden. You can often hear the music and the crowds from where we are. The shop itself is small. I spend most of my day between these four walls, surrounded by mirrors and the smell of talcum powder. I’ve got my tools laid out on the counter, nothing too modern, just the ones that have worked for me for years. There’s a wooden bench for people to wait on, and usually, there’s a newspaper lying around that’s a few days old. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they have a lot of character as they are. When the wedding season hits, it gets really busy with people wanting to look decent for the ceremonies. Other times, it’s just the usual locals coming in for their monthly cut. I like the routine of it all. Opening up early, sweeping the hair from the previous evening, and waiting for the first person to walk in. It’s a quiet life mostly, even with the city noise right outside our door on the main road. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs to be done every single day.
