Shubhranjan Steel

You can find us at Plot No. 19 in Palda. We are right near the Kotak Mahindra Bank there. It's an industrial kind of area, so there is always the sound of metal moving around. We deal in steel, mostly rods and sheets and things people need for building. It’s heavy work and my hands are usually dirty by ten in the morning. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a yard with a roof and a lot of stacks of metal. Some of the inventory has been sitting for a bit and gets a bit of rust on the edges, but we sort through it. People come by with their trucks and we help them load up what they bought. It takes a bit of time to get everything weighed and checked. We have a small office in the corner where we keep the bills. It’s usually quite hot in the summer because of all the metal around, but we have a fan that helps a little. We've been at this plot for a few years and the bank people know us well. It’s a basic operation. No big speeches or anything, just moving steel from one place to another. Most of our customers are locals who are fixing up their houses or building something small. We just keep it simple and try to be here when someone needs a bit of steel for a job.
