Raviraj Fabweld Udyog

If you’re ever near Saifee School in Chhatripura, you’ve probably heard the sounds coming from our shop. Raviraj Fabweld Udyog is right across from the school at number 21. It’s a place filled with the smell of burning metal and the bright flashes of welding torches. We spend our days bent over pieces of iron and steel, joining them together. It’s hard on the eyes and the back, but there’s something satisfying about seeing a finished piece of metalwork. We make all sorts of things, from simple gates to more complicated frames. The floor is usually covered in little scraps of metal and sparks. We have to wear these heavy masks and gloves, which gets really uncomfortable when the weather is hot. The school bell across the street is how we keep track of time throughout the day. When the kids come out, the street gets real crowded and we usually take our break then. We don't have a fancy showroom. Most people just walk into the workshop and talk to us while we’re working. We give them a rough idea of how long a job will take and how much it’ll cost. There’s no marketing talk here, just the sound of hammers and the hum of the welding machines. We’ve been in Chhatripura for years and everyone around here knows our face. It’s honest work that leaves your hands dirty at the end of every day.
