About Jain Shree Sweets – Food & Beverages in Indore
We are at No. 68 Nandlalpura on Jawahar Marg. The shop smells like cardamom and frying ghee all day long. We get here very early, usually while it’s still dark outside, to start the first batches. Making sweets is a lot of work. You have to stand over big pots and stir for a long time. It’s hot in the kitchen but you get used to it. Jawahar Marg is a very busy street. There are always people walking by and the sound of horns honking. We have glass cases filled with all different kinds of barfi and laddoos. We try to keep everything looking neat but when the afternoon rush hits, it gets a bit messy. People come in for a box of sweets to take to a party or just a single piece to eat right there. Nandlalpura is a good spot for us. We have customers who have been coming here since they were kids. We don't use any fancy machines. Most of it is done by hand. Our aprons are usually stained with sugar by the end of the shift. We close up when the trays are empty or when it gets too late. It's a simple business. We just make the food and sell it to the neighbors. Jawahar Marg is our home and we like the bustle of it.
