Chahat Travels

Our place, Chahat Travels, is up on the first floor of Shinvam Chamber. That is number 146 in Siyaganj. If you’ve ever been to Siyaganj in Indore, you know it’s a maze of shops and narrow lanes. Shinvam Chamber is right in the thick of it. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit steep, and the hallway can be dark if the bulbs aren't changed, but once you're inside our office, it's fine. We have a lot of old ledgers and papers stacked up because that’s just how we keep track of things. It’s noisy outside with the honking and the shouting of the market sellers, so we usually keep the door shut. We’ve been working out of this office for a good bit of time. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy to bother with that right now. We mostly spend the day answering calls and trying to find the right routes for people going out of town. It gets humid in the summer, and the ceiling fan just moves the warm air around, but we’re used to it. We know the other shop owners in the building, and we often share a cup of chai in the afternoon. It’s a local business, nothing more and nothing less. We just try to get the work done and get home to our families at a reasonable hour. It's a simple operation.
