We have been over here in Shaikpet for a good while now, right across the road from the Narrayanamma engineering college for women. It’s usually pretty loud with the traffic outside, but we get used to it when we are busy cutting wood or putting things together. This isn’t a place with big glass windows or fancy lights. It is just a shop where we make sofas, beds, and cupboards. Sometimes people from the college come over to ask for small repairs or maybe a desk for their room. We spend most of the day surrounded by sawdust and bits of timber. Most of our tools have been with us for years and they still work fine. When someone walks in, they see us actually working on the furniture, not just sitting at a desk. We don’t really do fancy brochures or any of that stuff. You just tell us what you need for your house and we see if we can get it done. The space is a bit cramped because we keep a lot of wood and half-finished frames in the back. Shaikpet is getting busier every year, so there is always something happening outside the door. We just try to finish the orders on time so the customers don't have to keep calling us. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. We just focus on the wood and making sure things are sturdy enough to last.
