Ya Waris Collection

We’ve been here at the Iraq Building on the road from Madina to the High Court for a good while now. Ya Waris Collection is just a small spot, really. If you know this area, you know how busy the street gets with everyone heading toward the court or the market. It’s noisy and there is always something going on outside our door at No. 21-1-1018. We spend most of our mornings just getting things sorted and opening up the shutters. Some days are packed and other days we just sit and watch the traffic go by. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular shop where we keep things simple. We don't have a big team or anything, just a couple of us making sure everything is in its place. Sometimes the dust from the road gets in, so we spend a lot of time cleaning. The building is old but it has character, and being on this specific stretch of road means we see all sorts of people walking past. It can get a bit cramped inside when we have a lot of stock coming in, but we manage. We just try to get through the day and help out whoever stops in. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. Most of the people around here know us by now. We don't do much advertising or anything like that. We just stay open until the sun goes down and then head home like everyone else.
