Ritu

The shop called Ritu sits right near the Pochamma Temple in the Indira Nagar area of Banjara Hills. Our specific address is H No 8-2-269/19/107. Even though this part of town is known for being fancy, our little corner is pretty grounded. We spend our days inside, surrounded by fabrics and threads. It’s a lot of sitting and focused work. The temple nearby means there’s often the sound of bells or people passing by in the mornings. We’ve been here for a long time, watching the buildings around Road No 2 get taller and shinier. Inside our space, things stay pretty much the same. We have a big wooden table where everything happens. Sometimes it’s a bit of a mess with scraps of cloth on the floor, but we clean up at the end of the day. We don't have a big marketing team or anything. People just find us because they live nearby or they’ve been coming to us for years. It’s a small operation, just a few of us. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the neighborhood while we work. It’s a bit cramped when we have a lot of orders, but we manage. If you’re walking toward the Pochamma Temple, you’ll probably walk right past our door. We’re just a local spot doing our thing. We don't put on any acts. We just cut the cloth and sew the pieces together one by one. It’s a simple process.
