Vijaya Lakshmi Boutique

This shop is in Madhura Nagar, specifically at Shop No. 2, G-57. Yousufguda is a lively area and being here means we see a lot of people passing by. I spend most of my time surrounded by rolls of fabric and spools of thread. It is a small boutique but we make it work with the space we have. The sewing machines are almost always running from morning until late evening. There are piles of clothes waiting to be finished in the corner. I try to keep things organized but when it gets busy, that usually goes out the window. People bring in all sorts of designs they want us to try. Sometimes it is simple stuff and other times it is more complicated. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who are good with a needle. The lighting in here is bright so we can see the small details clearly. It’s a lot of sitting and focusing on the stitches. My back gets a bit stiff after a long day but seeing the finished work makes it okay. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and the neighbors are all friendly. It feels like a little community on this street. We just keep our heads down and get the tailoring done for the local families. The Madhura Nagar area has changed a lot since we moved into G-57. There are more shops now and the street is always lively. We have a few mannequins in the window but they are wearing older styles because we haven't had time to change them. Most of our customers come in with pictures on their phones showing us what they want.
