Ssp Rice Traders

Our place is right on the Main Road in Santosh Nagar, you can’t really miss the stacks of bags if the door is open. We deal in rice, mostly selling to the families nearby and some of the smaller eateries. It’s a family-run thing, so there’s always someone around, even if we’re just sitting in the back having tea. We get different varieties depending on what’s coming in from the mills. Some days are slow and we just sweep the floor and wait for customers, other days it feels like everyone needs a bag at the same time. The bags are heavy, so my back usually hurts by the end of the week. We don’t do any fancy packaging, just the standard sacks. If a bag tears, we sew it up. People know us here because we’ve been in the same spot for years. We aren't interested in becoming a huge company; we just like knowing our customers by name. Sometimes the prices go up and we have to explain that to folks, which is never fun. It’s a simple business. We try to keep the dust down, but with so much grain moving around, it’s a losing battle. You just learn to live with it. If you need rice for your kitchen, we’re usually here from morning until the sun goes down. There isn't much to it besides that.
