This shop is over in Domalguda, specifically in Gagan Mahal. If you are looking for us, we are right opposite the C-Cable office on Street No-7. It’s a little tucked away in Lane No-1 at H.No-1-2-288/A. Hyderabad gets really hot, so I keep the fan running at full speed all day long. It makes a bit of a rattling noise but it keeps everyone from sweating too much while they sit in the chair. Most people around Domalguda-Himayat Nagar know where we are. It’s not a fancy salon with air conditioning and soft music. We just have the basic tools and a couple of sturdy chairs that have been here for years. I spend a lot of time sharpening the razors and cleaning the scissors. The floor is tiled but it’s seen better days. You see all sorts of people coming through here, from young kids who won't sit still to the older men who have lived in the lane since they were boys. I don’t do appointments or anything like that. You just show up and wait your turn. If the bench is full, you can stand by the door and watch the cars go by. It’s a simple life running Sri Venkateswara Hair Saloon. I just focus on the work in front of me and try to keep the shop tidy enough for the next person. Every day is mostly the same here.
