Sri Laxmi Industries

Working out of Shed No. 6-45/1/2 in the A.P.I.I.C.I.E. area of Kukatpally is a bit different than working in a regular office. This is a Type -1 unit and it is mostly just a large open space with a high ceiling where we do our manufacturing. Sri Laxmi Industries has been in this industrial estate for quite some time now. You can hear the sounds of the other units all around us, from welding to heavy pressing. The air is often thick with the smell of grease and metal dust. We have a small crew that has been together for years and we don't need to say much to get the work done. The shed can get very cold in the winter mornings before the machines warm up the place. We have a small area near the entrance where we keep the files and a telephone that rings way too loud. Most days are spent checking measurements and making sure the output is consistent. It is a lot of standing on your feet and moving between different pieces of equipment. Sometimes we have to wait for materials to arrive and that is when we usually sit outside on the plastic chairs for a break. It is not a glamorous place but we take care of the equipment and try to keep things moving as smoothly as we can given the space we have.
