Down here on Road No. 6 in Sowabagyapuram, things are usually pretty quiet until the grain trucks start arriving. Deccan Grainz Pvt. Ltd. is based in Kothapet, which is a good area for this kind of work. We deal mostly with rice, lentils, and other staples that people eat every day. Our building isn't anything special to look at, just a practical space where we can store some samples and keep our records straight. The smell of raw grain is something you just get used to after a week of working here. We spend our mornings talking to millers and our afternoons trying to find the best way to move the stock to the markets. It’s simple work but it takes a lot of attention so you don't end up with a bad batch. We don't have a fancy reception area or anyone wearing suits.
