Safa Beauty Parlour

We’ve been here in Mallepally for a good while now, right near Limra School. It’s a busy spot near the Mallapally Nalah, so there is always some noise from the street coming in through the door. The shop isn't anything fancy, just a couple of chairs and mirrors where we do our work every day. Most of the ladies from the neighborhood stop by when they have a bit of free time between chores. You can hear the kids playing outside at the school during the day. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and talk until it comes back on. It gets pretty dusty with the traffic nearby, so we spend a lot of time just wiping down the counters. We usually have a small radio playing in the corner, mostly just for some background noise while we handle threading or hair oiling. It's a small space, but it fits us. People know us by name around here because we’ve seen their kids grow up. It’s mostly just routine work, nothing that would make a magazine cover, but it keeps us busy from morning until we close up at night. The tea guy from the corner comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take our only real break. It’s just how things are at Safa Beauty Parlour, simple and steady.
