Rangoli Sarees

We are located on Road No 36 in Jubilee Hills, which is a place that never really sleeps. If you've been around here, you know the address is a bit of a mouthful with all those numbers, but once you find the door, it’s all sarees. We have stacks of them reaching up to the ceiling. It’s mostly silks and heavy work, but we keep some simpler cottons too. Dealing with sarees is a slow process. A customer comes in, sits down, and we have to open up ten or twenty different pieces before they find the one. By the end of the day, the counters are covered in fabric and we have to spend an hour just folding everything back up properly. It’s hard on the back, but it’s what we do. The lighting in the shop is quite bright because people want to see the real color of the thread. Sometimes the tea guy comes by and we take a break while the shop is empty. We get a lot of families coming in for wedding shopping, which means it gets very loud and crowded with everyone giving their opinion on which shade of red is better. It's a bit of a chaotic way to spend a day, but we've been at it for a long time. The street outside is always full of cars, but inside, it's just about the weave.
