Rachel Boutique

Our little shop, Rachel Boutique, is over in Kapra, specifically at No. 1-1-110/2/30 in the Sri Srinivasa Officers Colony. It is a quiet kind of neighborhood compared to the city center, which makes working here a bit more relaxed. We have our machines set up near the window to catch the light. Most of our day is spent handling different kinds of fabrics and making sure the stitches are tight. The colony is a nice place to be, and we see the same faces walking by most days. Inside the boutique, you will find bits of thread on the rug and piles of magazines with different styles that we look at for ideas. It is not a corporate setup at all, just a local place where we do our work. Sometimes we struggle with a difficult sleeve or a tricky zipper, and we just have to sit there and figure it out. We keep our measuring tapes around our necks and our pincushions close by. There is usually a cup of tea sitting somewhere getting cold because we got distracted by a hemline. Being in Sri Srinivasa Officers Colony feels like being part of a small community. We don't have a mission statement or a fancy philosophy. We just like to make sure that when someone brings us a piece of cloth, we turn it into something they can actually wear without any fuss. By the time we close up and head home, our eyes are usually a bit tired from looking at the small details, but that is just part of being in the clothing business.
