Footmaco

Our shed is number 37 on Road No 4 in Phase II of the Ida Cherlapally area. Footmaco has been operating from here for quite some time now. When you walk into the industrial area, you can hear the machines running from a distance. It is not a quiet neighborhood. We work with footwear materials and components. Most of our day is spent watching the production lines and making sure the cutters are sharp. The air usually smells like rubber and glue. It is a real working environment. We do not have fancy carpets or a receptionist in a suit. Usually, one of us just wipes our hands on a rag and comes to the door if someone knocks. We have got a lot of inventory stacked up to the ceiling in some parts of the shed. It takes a while to get used to the layout. The roads around Cherlapally can get pretty rough with the heavy trucks passing through all day. We just keep our heads down and get the orders out. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out, chatting in the shade. It is a simple life of manufacturing. We are not trying to change the world, just making sure the shoes have the parts they need. The staff here has been together for years. We know the machines better than we know our own cars. It is just work. We stay focused on the tasks and go home tired.
