You can find us at Shed No: 37 on Road No: 13, inside Phase-II of the Ida Cherlapally area in Ghatkesar. It’s quite a large industrial estate, and we’ve been here at Footmaco for a while now. We mostly deal with footwear production, so there are always stacks of materials and soles lying around in different stages of being put together. The machines have a specific rhythm to them that you start to hum along to after a few hours on the floor. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s a productive one. The road outside is usually lined with delivery trucks, especially in the afternoons when we are loading up the finished batches. We don’t have a fancy showroom here because this is where the actual making happens. We’ve got a small crew of workers who have been with us through thick and thin, and we mostly just get on with it. Sometimes the heat in the shed gets a bit intense during the afternoon, but we have some fans that keep the air moving enough to be comfortable. Being in Cherlapally means we are surrounded by all sorts of factories, so there is always someone around if we need a spare part or a bit of help with the electricals. We keep our heads down and focus on the stitching and the glue, making sure everything is held together well before it leaves the shed. It’s honest work and keeps us busy.
