Munawar Handloom

We are located over on Darga Yousufain Road in Nampally. The shop is at 5-7-586. It’s a very busy part of the city, especially with the Darga nearby. There’s always a lot of movement and people around. We focus on handloom items, mostly fabrics and things for the home. Handloom work has a different feel to it, and you can see the little variations in the weave. That’s what makes it real. We have piles of cloth everywhere. Sometimes the shop feels a bit disorganized, but we know where the cottons are and where the silks are. We’ve been in Nampally for a long time. It’s a traditional area and we like being part of it. The shop is small, so we have to use every bit of shelf space we have. Customers often come in with their families to pick out material for clothes or curtains. We spend a lot of time showing different colors. It’s not a fancy showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just a regular local shop. Sometimes the supply from the weavers is slow, so we have to tell people to wait. We don’t do any big advertising. People just know us because we’ve been here for years. It’s a lot of standing and talking, but it’s what we do. The street outside is always full of tea stalls and rickshaws, so it’s never quiet. We like the energy of this place.
