Morning Star Hair Dressing Saloon

You’ll find us over on Street No: 6 in Phool Bagh. We are right opposite the Ambedkar Statue, which makes us pretty easy to find if you’re in the Domalguda-Himayat Nagar area. This saloon has been a part of the street for a while now. The building number is 1-2-341/4 if you’re looking for the exact spot. It's a plain shop. We have the usual barber chairs and a row of combs and scissors. I usually spend my morning sharpening tools and getting things ready for the day. It's a lot of work keeping a small place going. We get all kinds of people, from students to older men who’ve lived here forever. The neighborhood is fairly busy, but it feels like home to us. Sometimes the traffic by the statue gets backed up and we just watch the cars and bikes go by from the doorway. We aren’t trying to be one of those modern lounges. It’s just a place to get a haircut and maybe talk about the weather or the local news. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy working to worry about that right now. We stay open pretty late most nights. Hyderabad can be a loud city, but inside the shop, it’s mostly just the sound of scissors. We keep it basic and it works for the people who live around here. No fuss or frills.
