Mangalore Plywood Corporation

Our shop is at 8-3-319/1 in Sri Sai Saradhi Nagar. We are right across from the Kerthi Apartments and just behind Saradhi Studios. It’s a busy little pocket of the neighborhood. Inside, it’s basically just rows and rows of plywood sheets, laminates, and various boards stacked up to the ceiling. The air always smells like a mix of fresh cut wood and the chemicals they use for the glue. We don’t have a big fancy storefront with bright lights. Most people just see the sign outside and walk in. We spend a lot of time moving these heavy sheets around, so it keeps us in shape. It gets quite dusty, especially when someone asks us to trim a board down to size. We use a saw that’s been with us since we opened, and it still runs better than the new ones. Our record-keeping is mostly done in a big ledger book with a pen because we don't really trust computers to not crash. We have a small bench where we sit and have our lunch while watching the traffic go by outside. The neighbors are mostly good people, though we try to keep the noise down during the early hours. It’s just a place where we sell wood and try to be helpful to the people who come in looking for something specific for their homes.
