Kalanjali Saree Centre

You can find Kalanjali Saree Centre at Door No. 3/16-37, Shop No. 4. We are situated on the Kotha Basthi Venkatapuram road. It’s a busy little stretch of road in the Venkatapuram part of Hyderabad. We mostly sell sarees, as the name says. We have all kinds of styles, from the ones you wear every day at home to slightly nicer ones for going to a function or a temple. The shop is filled with rows of folded sarees. It takes a lot of work to keep them all neat because once a customer starts looking through them, they get unfolded and moved around. That’s just part of the job though. We spend a lot of our time sitting on the floor or behind the counter talking to the ladies who come in. They usually have a very specific color or pattern in mind, and we try to find it in the stacks. Kotha Basthi is a lively neighborhood. There is always something going on outside on the road. We get a lot of light in the mornings, which is good for showing the true colors of the fabric. It’s a small, family-run kind of feel here. We don't have any corporate rules or anything. We just open the shop, sweep the front, and wait for the day to start. It’s been our daily life for quite a few years now. We just like keeping the tradition of the shop alive.
