Kaka Prides is situated right in the middle of the Banjara area. It is a place where we have set up our shop to handle a lot of the local demand for different kinds of clothing and textiles. We don’t have a massive showroom with big glass walls or anything; it is more of a practical space where we can actually get the work done. We spend most of our days dealing with different types of garments. Some of it involves heavy work with hand embroidery, and some of it is just basic cotton stuff for everyday wear. The neighborhood is always active and full of life, so there is plenty of energy around the shop. We have a few local guys who come in to help us with the cutting and the stitching when things get busy. It is a very simple setup. We don’t spend any money on fancy marketing or big banners. People in Banjara know where we are if they need something made or if they want to buy some nice fabric. Sometimes the shop feels a bit cramped because we try to keep so much stock on the shelves and the floor. You really have to watch your step so you don’t trip over a roll of cloth. We like it that way, though. It feels like a real workshop instead of just a store. We just focus on getting the orders right for the people who come in.
