Jayathi Vasala

Being based near the Hyderabad GPO means my work life is pretty much tied to the heart of the city. I’m Jayathi Vasala, and I’ve been running things from this Hyderabad 500001 location for quite a bit. It’s the kind of place where you can hear the horns honking and the buses going by all day long. My office is a functional space. I have my computer, a lot of notebooks, and a spot for people to sit when they come to talk. It’s not polished or corporate-looking. It feels more like a lived-in room where real work happens. I spend a lot of time on the phone or answering emails. The 500001 area is always crowded, so just getting to the office in the morning can be a bit of a struggle. Once I’m here, though, I just settle in and start on whatever is at the top of the list. I don't use any fancy systems, just a way of doing things that has worked for me over the years. People in the building know me, and we often nod to each other in the hallway. It’s a busy life, and sometimes it feels like there aren't enough hours in the day to get everything finished. I don't mind the chaos too much. It’s just part of working in one of the busiest spots in Hyderabad. Each day is a bit different, and I just try to keep up with it all.
