J. Y. S. Cane Furniture

J. Y. S. Cane Furniture is a small shop located at 3-27 on the road that goes through Gangaram towards Chanda Nagar. You can usually see our stuff spilling out onto the sidewalk because the shop itself is quite narrow. We have all sorts of cane chairs, stools, and swings stacked up high. The smell of cut cane and some of the polish we use is always hanging in the air. It’s a dusty spot because of the constant flow of buses and cars on the Chanda Nagar road, so we have to wipe down the furniture several times a day. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. It’s just us and the tools we use to fix or finish the pieces. People often pull over their bikes when they see something they like, and we spend time chatting about the prices and how the cane is sourced. It’s a bit messy with bits of fiber on the floor and tools lying around on the workbench. Sometimes we are in the back working on a custom order while a family member watches the front. We’ve been in this shop for a good long time, and people in Gangaram know us for this kind of work. It’s not a big company, just a local shop trying to sell decent furniture to the people passing by. We take things as they come and hope the weather stays dry for the outdoor display.
