Meenakshi Lucknow Chikan Works

Our place is House No 3-6-139/28 in Himayat Nagar. It is a bit tucked away but we like it that way. At Meenakshi Lucknow Chikan Works, we spend our time with a lot of white thread and fabric. Chikan work is slow and takes a lot of looking closely at the cloth. The house is usually full of pieces waiting to be finished or packed. Himayat Nagar is a crowded area with a lot going on outside our door but inside it is mostly quiet work. We have been doing this for years now. People come by to see what we have ready or to ask about specific patterns. We don't have a big fancy showroom, just our work space where everything happens. Sometimes the light isn't great so we move near the windows. It is honest work and we try to get the stitching right every time. My family has been around this part of town for a long time. We drink a lot of chai and talk to the neighbors while we work. The address might seem a bit long to find but once you are on the street, most people can point you toward our house. We don't really do much advertising, just word of mouth from folks who know where to get decent chikan embroidery. Every day is mostly the same routine of checking thread and making sure the fabric is clean. We just keep our heads down and finish the work.
