Hanuman Book House

If you walk down Reddy College Lane in Narayanaguda, you will find our book house right near the YMCA. We have been at this spot, No. 6-446/1, for quite a while. The shop is filled with books from the floor to the ceiling. It can look a bit messy to someone walking in for the first time, but we generally know where everything is. Students from the nearby colleges are our main visitors. They come looking for textbooks, old guides, or just some stationery. We carry a lot of regional language books too. The lane is usually crowded with bikes and students chatting after class. Inside, it's a bit quieter, though the air is thick with the smell of old paper. We don't have a fancy computer system for inventory; we just remember what we bought and what we sold. Sometimes we sit on the small stools behind the counter and talk to the regulars about the news. It’s a simple way to earn a living. We see the same faces every year as new batches of students come and go. Sometimes a parent comes in looking for a book their child needs urgently. We do our best to find it in the stacks. It is a lot of lifting and dusting, but it's okay. Narayanaguda is a good place for a bookshop, even if the traffic is a nightmare sometimes. We just keep the doors open and wait for the readers.
