Himalaya Book World

Himalaya Book World is located at Mj Avids. If you know this part of town, you know it is famous for books. We have been here for quite some time, and our shelves are pretty much overflowing. We have books stacked on the floor and tucked into every corner we can find. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but if you look long enough, you usually find something interesting. We get all kinds of people coming in, from students looking for old textbooks to older folks who just want something to read in the afternoon. The building is older and has that specific smell of paper and ink that you only find in places like this. It’s a bit dim inside because the stacks of books block out most of the light from the windows. We don't use any fancy computers to track everything; we mostly just remember where things are kept or we go hunting through the piles with the customers. Avids is always busy with traffic and people shouting, but once you step inside the shop, it gets a little bit quieter. We aren't trying to compete with those big online stores. We just like having a physical shop where people can touch the books before they buy them. It’s a lot of work carrying heavy boxes around and dusting the covers, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. It’s just what we do here for the readers.
