If you walk down Nizamshahi Road, you’ll find us at number 5-2-968. It is not a huge place, just a regular shop where we keep all kinds of locks and keys. My father started this a long time back and we just kept it going. Most people come in when they lose a key or need a spare one for their front door or a cabinet. We have those old-fashioned heavy padlocks and the newer ones too. Sometimes the machine for cutting keys makes a lot of noise, but it gets the job done. It’s mostly just us sitting here waiting for the next customer. The shelves are a bit crowded because we try to keep everything anyone might ask for. If a lock is stuck, we usually tell people how to fix it themselves before they spend money. Nizamshahi Road is always busy with traffic and people walking by, so there is always something to look at from the front door. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. Just locks in boxes and keys hanging on the wall. If you need a key made, it usually takes a few minutes while you wait. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but people still need to lock their doors at night. That’s pretty much what we do every day from morning until we close up.
