Running a place like Evlas Beauty Parlour in Banjara Hills is interesting because this part of Hyderabad is always moving. We are right here in the 500001 zip code area which means there is never a quiet moment on the streets outside. Most people think everything in this neighborhood has to be very expensive or loud but we just keep things simple here. I opened this parlor because I wanted a space where local women could just come in and get their hair done without a fuss. We do a lot of facials and simple hair cutting. The tea stall nearby usually brings us some chai in the mornings while we set up the towels and clean the combs. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud you can’t hear the music playing inside but that is just how life is in Hyderabad. We have a few chairs and some good lighting. It is not a very big shop but it is enough for what we do. Many of our customers have been coming to us since we first opened our doors. They stop by after work or before going to a party. It’s a lot of work keeping up with everything but it’s good to be busy. We try to keep the place tidy even when we are rushed. It’s just a normal shop for normal people living around this area who want to look okay.
