Anitaemporium

Our place, Anitaemporium, is tucked away at 15 8 377/5 in Begumbazar. If you know this part of the city, you know how busy it gets. It is always a struggle to find a place to park a bike, so most people just walk. We’ve been in this same spot for a while, and the walls have seen a lot of history. The shop is small and we have to stack things pretty high to make everything fit. It isn’t the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is. Sometimes the rain leaks in a little near the back door, but we just put a bucket down and keep going. We don’t have any big mission or anything like that. We just open up, sell what we have, and talk to whoever walks in. The afternoon tea is the highlight of the day when the guy from the corner brings it over. We don't use computers much, mostly just paper and pens. It’s simpler that way for us. People around here know our faces and we know theirs. It’s a tight-knit community in Begumbazar 12. We don't plan on changing much about how we run things. We like the way it is, even if it’s a bit old-fashioned compared to the big stores. We just keep working through the day until it's time to lock up.
