Cotton Corner

Cotton Corner is tucked away in Abids, which as everyone knows, is one of the busiest parts of the city. We’ve been here for a long time, selling all kinds of cotton fabrics and readymade stuff. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with rolls of cloth. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than four people are inside at once. We spend our days unfolding fabric for customers to see the patterns and then folding it back up again. It’s a lot of work on the arms. Abids has changed a lot over the years, but people still come here looking for good cotton, especially when the weather gets hot. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just some old ceiling fans that buzz. We know most of our regular customers by name and what kind of colors they like. We don't do big sales or flashy marketing. We just put some new stock in the window and people wander in. Sometimes we sit on the stools outside and talk to the other shopkeepers when it’s quiet. It’s a traditional way of doing business. We don't use computers much, mostly just handwritten bills and a cash drawer. It’s honest work and we enjoy being in the middle of all the Abids chaos. It feels like home to us after all these years.
