Out here in Bally, specifically at 26 Padmababu Road, the streets can be a bit tight for the big trucks. We are in the Howrah district of West Bengal, and if you know this area, you know how crowded it gets. Getting a delivery in can be a real headache sometimes because of the traffic and the narrow lanes. We have to time everything just right so we do not block up the whole road. The air is always a bit damp here being so close to the river, which means we have to be extra careful with how we store the cement. If it gets even a little bit of moisture, the bags get hard and then they are no good to anyone. I spend a lot of time checking the storage area to make sure there are no damp spots on the floor. It is a small team here, just a few of us who have known each other for years. We do not have a big sign or a fancy lobby. It is just a place with a desk, a couple of ledgers, and a lot of grey bags stacked up to the ceiling. Most of the people who come in are local builders from around Howrah who need a few things for their current project. We just keep our heads down, do the loading, and try to stay out of the rain. It is a bit messy, but it is home to us.
