Ambuja Cements Ltd.

Bally is an old neighborhood in Howrah, and that’s where we have our Ambuja Cements Ltd office. Specifically, we are at 31, Bireswar Chatterjee Street. The street is quite narrow, so when the big trucks come in, it can be a real headache for the traffic around here. We’ve been here for a good while now, and we’re used to the noise and the humidity of West Bengal. Inside, the place is pretty basic. We’ve got some old wooden desks and a lot of ledgers for keeping track of the cement bags. It’s not one of those fancy modern offices with air conditioning in every corner. We mostly just keep the fans going and get on with the work. People from around Howrah come to us when they need cement for their building projects. The pin code is 711201. Most days involve a lot of shouting back and forth with the loaders and making sure the counts are right. We drink a lot of tea from the stall down the road. It keeps us going during the long afternoons when it gets hot. Sometimes the rain gets so heavy that we have to stop everything to make sure the stock stays dry. Cement doesn’t like water before it’s used, obviously. It’s a plain kind of life here on Bireswar Chatterjee Street, but it’s what we know. We don't really do much else besides this work.
