Kamala Valves & Engineering is tucked away at No. 41/2 on Q-Road in Belgachia, Howrah. If you know this part of West Bengal, you know it is famous for its history with iron and engineering. We are just one of many workshops in this neighborhood, doing our bit with valves and various engineering parts. The shop isn't anything special to look at, but we have all the tools we need to get the job done right. It gets quite dusty on Q-Road with all the trucks passing by, and the heat in the summer can be something else, but we are used to it by now. We started small and we have stayed that way because it is easier to keep track of everything. We don't have a big office with people in suits; it is mostly just us in our work clothes handling the metal. People come to us when they need a specific valve or some custom work that requires a bit of experience. We don't spend much time on the computer or trying to make things look perfect for a brochure. We just focus on the casting and the fitting until the piece is ready. It is a simple way of working, and it has served us well over the years. We just take one day at a time here.
