The Leela Kempinski

Our location is over at 782/G, R.M. Sarani in Baidyabati. This is in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, quite a way off from the big city centers. It is a more traditional area, and our office sits right in the middle of it all. We have been here for a bit, handling things related to the Kempinski name. It is not like the massive hotels you see in the pictures; our day-to-day here is much more about the administrative side and keeping things moving behind the scenes. The building is a bit older and has that local character you find in this part of Bengal. We deal with a lot of papers and coordination from this spot. R.M. Sarani can get quite crowded with people and rickshaws, especially during the festive seasons. The office itself is modest, with old fans spinning on the ceiling and stacks of files on the desks. We spend a lot of time talking to each other and making sure we haven't missed anything important. It is a quiet kind of busy. We take our tea breaks seriously and usually talk about the weather or the local news while we drink from small clay cups. It’s a very grounded place to work, far away from the polished glass and chrome of the corporate world. We just do our bit here in Baidyabati and keep things going as they should for the company.
