Even though the name says Kolkata, we are actually based out in the Hooghly district, specifically in the 712503 area. It’s a different pace of life than the city center. Working for a name like ITC Hotel The Sonar Kolkata Luxury means we have to keep things organized, but out here, things feel a bit more grounded. The building isn't a skyscraper; it’s just where we coordinate things. You can smell the river sometimes when the wind blows the right way. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or checking lists. It’s a lot of mundane stuff that goes into making a big hotel run, even if we are located a bit further out than people expect. The office has a few old wooden desks and some chairs that have seen better days. We don't spend money on decorations because we’re too busy keeping track of the supplies and the schedules. During the monsoon, the rain hits the roof so loud we can hardly hear each other talk. We just wait it out and keep working. It’s a small group of us here and we all know how everyone takes their tea. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters for us. We just write what needs to be said and get back to the tasks at hand. It’s been our home base for a long time now and we're used to it.
