Joy Ma Kali Anodise

Joy Ma Kali Anodise is located in Gutul Panchanantala, which is in the Kalachara area near Dankuni. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but most people in the village know where the Panchanantala temple is and we are right there. The workshop is where we do all the anodizing work on the parts that come in. It’s a messy process with the tanks and the chemicals, so we always have the fans running to keep the air moving. The floor is usually wet and we all wear rubber boots to keep our feet dry. It is not the kind of place where you would want to wear your best clothes. We have a small crew of local guys who have learned the trade over the years. We start work early in the morning when it’s still cool because the heat from the vats can get pretty intense by noon. There isn't much of an office to speak of, just a corner with a chair and a small desk where we keep the records. Dankuni is a busy industrial hub, but our little corner in Kalachara feels a bit more like a village. We get a lot of rain during the season, and the road outside can get a bit muddy, which makes moving the finished goods a bit of a challenge. We just take it day by day and try to get the work finished correctly.
