Sri Aravind Convent

Sri Aravind Convent sits in the Kuvempu Nagar area of Hassan, specifically in Krishnaraja Pura. It’s a neighborhood where people know their neighbors. The school has been part of this community for a while now. It’s a regular building with a bit of a yard in front where we hold the morning assembly. You can hear the kids reciting their prayers and the national anthem every morning if you’re walking by. The classrooms are basic, with the walls painted a simple color and plenty of windows to let in the breeze. Hassan can get a bit warm, so those windows are important. We don't have a lot of high-tech gadgets; it’s mostly just books, pencils, and teachers talking at the front of the room. The children wear their uniforms, though by the end of the day, there’s usually some dirt on the knees or ink on the shirts. We have a small office where we keep all the files and where parents come to pay the fees or talk about how their kids are doing. It’s an unpretentious place. We don't make big promises about the future; we just focus on the homework and making sure the kids behave themselves while they are with us. It’s just a standard local convent school doing its thing in a quiet corner of Hassan, keeping the daily routine going year after year without making much of a fuss about it.
