Ratanbai Tarachandji Kanunga Primary School

Ratanbai Tarachandji Kanunga Primary School is over on Laksar Road in the Kankhal area of Haridwar. It’s a well-known part of town, and we’ve been here for a good many years. Being a primary school, we mainly see the younger children from the surrounding neighborhoods coming in. The building is simple and sits right along the road. Haridwar is always a busy place with pilgrims and tourists, but Kankhal has its own slower rhythm. We start our day early before the sun gets too high and it gets too hot for the children. The classrooms are basic, with the usual wooden benches and blackboards. We don't have a big fancy campus with modern wings, but there’s enough room for the kids to line up for morning prayers and play a bit. The teachers here are dedicated people who live nearby and understand the community. We deal with the usual daily stuff like lost pencils, messy notebooks, and lunch breaks. It’s a bit of a walk for some of the kids who come from the other side of Laksar Road every morning. We try to keep the place as tidy as possible, though the dust from the busy road always finds its way in somehow. It’s just how it is in this part of Haridwar. We are a small school with a long name, and we just focus on teaching the basics to the little ones. There’s always someone at the gate to make sure everything is okay. We’ve seen many generations pass through these doors.
